I always liked Hygrophilias, I have this one in my 5gal planted tant.
I originally purchased these Cabomba Piauhyensis (Purple Cabomba) without researching that they needed a substrate. However, I simply added them to the water as floating plants anyway. After over three weeks they continue to survive. They likely will die but maybe not---they are spreading out like Hornwort. In all-day indirect light they have brightened, with some very tiny parts matching aspect of the vibrant photos, but most of them are more of a muted red. My betta have started picking at them and seem to enjoy them as food. I can tell that some are becoming compromised by being nibbled on, but others are opening up and taking up space and seem to be flourishing. This is a nice plant to add variety to your aqua space and they seem fairly hardy (but more delicate than the all green variety). I keep bettas and I do not keep a substrate. I mix these plant with the all green version and an assortment of plants. One effect that they have is cause the bettas to seem less prominent and create a bit of camouflage when they are among the plants because the purple and it dark values connect to the bettas colors and patterns. I like this effect. However, other keepers might not. All that said, I have seen other reviews and their images. One person shows their appearance planted in a row in the substrate and I agree that they look leggy. They might look better as a bunch in the substrate unless they are fast growers. Also, mine have been in a window in all-day indirect like and the purple color is going in two directions in different vessels. It is either turning very dark even in a lot of light or they are turning toward a red color that is a bit anemic looking, but okay looking. In short, they work fine for my purpose of adding variety to my floating plants but be aware that their color is unstable and their stems' straight form is not graceful in the water.

Nice to finally be able to buy a native to North America aquatic floating plant! I love frogbit so I can’t wait to see what this does! I will say the roots fell off during shipping but new roots are already forming so we should be good to go.
Scoured the internet trying to source this foam. Idk where you guys get it from, but I caved and bought it lol
I sell aquarium plants on the side. It’s nice to have the foam to protect stems from the weight.
I always enjoy a nice variegated plant and this one was a great selection. The bare root option split into 6 sections and allowed for placement in the tank and to create a pot. Great color and size.
Seen how big these can get out of water and wanted to give them a try. After opening the bag the plant split into multiple sections and allowed me to give a piece to my daughter for propagation, make two healthy sized pots, and place some around the tank. Looks great.

mine came in very healthy and are already converting to submerged growth. can't wait to see how they end up.
i'm trying a few setups for this plant, with a backup backup outdoor container if they don't like the aquariums they're in now.

The plants came healthy but only about half survived which is surprising since anubias is pretty hardy. I didn’t know that the plants were grown emerged instead of submerged, that’s probably why they melted. Also, no pest or snail.
I ordered $268 worth of plants last week 8/30/25) to start my Dutch aquascaping project. I ordered 17 species. The packaging was done very meticulously, the order arrived on time, the portions were VERY generous, the variety of tissue culture plants is large (my other tank has been taken over by snails so I'm not repeating that mistake with my new tank). Only one plant came melted-a one inch anubias petite whire but I'm sure that was my fault as I wasn't able to pick up the package until four hours after delivery and I am in Albuquerque where it was 85 degrees that day, otherwise not a single other plant was melted. It's because they did such a good job. Insulating the box. I will be buying from them again although I must admit my tank is now full of plants, but their selections are so beautiful I just may have to start another tank!
