Subwassertang on Handmade Stone Pad

Choose Quantity

Lomariopsis Lineata also known as Subwassertang. It's a very rare yet popular in aquascaping. It' undemanding and easy to maintain. They preferred cooler water and grow best in good lighting, CO2 and rich nutrients environment. Like any other mosses, it can be attached to rock, stone, driftwood and any aquarium decorations.

At first glance, it appears very similar to the liverwort Monosolenium, but it is actually neither a moss nor a seaweed, but prothalli of the fern Lomariopsis Lineata.

The differences between Lomariopsis Lineata & Monosolenium Tenerum

Lomariopsis Lineata / Süsswassertang: Thinner, Light Green & Not As Fragile

The entire thallus is thin like a membrane (only one layer of cells thick), there is no midrib. Broad round lobes, the tip is never truncated. There are rhizoids (hairlike adhesion organs fulfilling the function of roots) at irregular distances on the underside, also near the margin of the thallus, often in groups. The thallus is more transparent and of a darker green, more flexible and less fragile than Monosolenium.

Monosolenium Tenerum / Pellia Moss:Thicker, Dark Green & Very Fragile

The thallus is stronger, more than just one layer of cells thick. The tips are less rounded, clearly visible, elevated on the underside, densely covered by rhizoids. In the tissue, oil body cells are visible, as tiny light-colored (when viewed with incident light) or dark-colored (when viewed with transmitted light) spots. The plant is very fragile. The branches of the thallus grow upright under low light and develop a very narrow habit.

    Subwassertang stone pad

It was a bit dirty, I'd assume from the stone, but after a gentle rinse the water cleared up significantly. I haven't noticed any snails/eggs, although it's still being quarantined before I put it in my main tank. Has had several small leaves break off, but the growth tied to the pad is full and healthy.

    Satisfied

My plants arrived well-packaged and in excellent condition (granted, I spent the extra money on the 2 day delivery.) The subwassertang arrived with what looked like snail eggs in two different parts of the arrangement. Thankfully, I noticed these while I was quarantining it, which just reiterated the importance of quarantining new plants before introducing them to your tank. Other than that, I’m a pretty happy costumer.

    Cute!

I love the portability of this plant. Came healthy and green and is easy to move if I don't like where I've put it.

    As always, GREAT

This isn't the first time I have ordered, and as always, GREAT. The Java Moss I ordered has exploded. The subwassertang looks great and as always, shipping was fast and the plants arrived in amazing condition.

Not as full and green as the picture. Wrapped decently-had some extra string that I clipped off. Nice size rock. The concept is good, hopefully it’ll grow into something more like the one depicted on the site.
